Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 6, 2026

This page explains what information Lizardist (lizardist.com) collects when you visit the site, why, and what choices you have. Lizardist is a reference library about pet lizards. You can read every page without creating an account or telling us who you are.

Who we are

Lizardist is an independent website at https://lizardist.com. For any privacy question or request, use the contact page.

Information you give us

If you send a message through the contact form, we receive your name, your email address, the topic you choose and your message. The form sends this to us by email. We use it only to read and answer your message, and we do not add you to a mailing list or share your details with anyone else.

We keep messages for as long as we need them to deal with your request and then delete them. You can ask us to delete a message you sent at any time.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our web host records standard server logs when a page is requested. These logs can include your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for, the referring page and the time of the request. They are used to keep the site secure and working, and they are kept for a limited period by the host.

The site uses a caching system to load pages quickly. It does not build a profile of you. We do not currently run analytics, advertising or tracking cookies on Lizardist. If that changes, we will update this page before it happens.

Cookies

Lizardist itself sets no tracking or advertising cookies for visitors. WordPress may set a functional cookie if you log in to the site, which only applies to site administrators.

When you click a link to Amazon, you leave Lizardist. Amazon may then set its own cookies so it can credit a purchase to our affiliate account. Those cookies are controlled by Amazon and covered by the Amazon privacy notice.

Affiliate links

Some pages contain affiliate links to products on Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, Lizardist earns from qualifying purchases. We do not receive your name, address or payment details from Amazon. We only see anonymous reports of which products were bought. Our affiliate disclosure explains how these links work.

Images and outside content

Some photographs come from freely licensed collections and are credited on our photography and credits page. Images are served from our own site, so viewing them does not share your data with the original source. Source links in articles go to outside sites, which have their own privacy policies.

Comments

Comments are closed on Lizardist, so we do not collect comment data.

How we share information

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We share it only with service providers that run the site for us, such as our web host and email provider, or when the law requires it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to correct it or to have it deleted. Residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and California, among others, have these rights under local law. To make a request, use the contact page and we will respond within the time the law requires.

Children

Lizardist is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. No method of sending or storing data is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we receive.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site changes. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised.
